Ultrasophisticated Machining Capability Provides Time and Money Savings
RCT MFG conquers complex part manufacturing with state-of-the-art 5-axis CNC machining, backed by decades of experience and unmatched creativity. The 5-axis platform cuts part geometry and machines complex shapes unachievable by other machining methods due to additional axes and the exceptional mobility of workpiece to tool rotational axes. This enhanced 6-sided machining capability increases accuracy by combining several standalone operations, significantly reducing part handling and multiple clamping phases during the process. The spindle head operates closer to the workpiece, allowing shorter cutting tools with less vibration and deflection, higher cutting speeds, tighter tool moves, and improved surface finishing capability.
Cost savings is another huge benefit of 5-axis technology. Consolidating 3-axis machining and other linear axes operations into a single setup increases production throughput while reducing cycle time, costly work fixtures, and overall waste. It provides a more efficient and cost effective solution with faster lead time and production turnaround with outstanding quality than horizontal and vertical machine technology alone.
Whether you seek cost reduction, complex parts machining, parts that require extreme tolerances, or all, RCT MFG is your world-class precision 5-axis machine shop!

Design for Manufacture
1. Collaborate to design components mechanically or ergonomically more efficiently.
2. Typically built-in geometrical inconsistencies or errors caused by multiple operations (such as allowance for mismatch) are no longer needed providing faster, more straightforward programs and more accurate parts.
3. Quicker product development and to market – Test designs and alter them quickly and easily.
4. Engineers can improve the component design such as an integral gear or spline without manufacturing restrictions due to the machine tool’s kinematics and capability.

What is 5 Axis CNC Machining?
5 Axis CNC Machining is a subtractive process that cuts away at a block of material using a high-speed cutting tool that resembles a drill. Typical 3 Axis CNC Machines are constrained to linear X, Y and Z axes. However, 5 Axis CNC Machining introduces two additional axes; rotation on the X and Y axes (known as A & B axes). The new axes allow the cutting tool to access more areas of the workpieces at a variety of angles.
5 Axis CNC Machining has opened the possibility for parts to be ‘Done in One’, reducing setup and reorientation costs. With intelligent programming, data paths are trialled and tool paths are perfected in advance of production, achieving efficiency and accuracy.
From simple components to highly complex specifications, RCT MFG select the best partner factory to produce your 5 Axis machined parts based on suitability and price, never compromising on quality.
Benefits of 5 Axis Machining
1. The amount of human labor is reduced if the piece would otherwise have to be turned manually during the machining.
2. A better surface finish can be obtained by moving the tool tangentially about the surface (as opposed to moving the workpiece around the spindle).
3. More complex parts can be manufactured, particularly parts with curved holes.
4. Increased tool life due to the ability to achieve optimal angles between the tool and machining surface.
5. Higher quality parts. What once required multiple setups now can be executed in only a few if not one, reducing steps and decreasing the opportunity for error.
6. Shorten the R & D cycle of new products with our instant CNC machining quote.
7. Shorten the production process and simplify production management.
5-axis machining industries and applications
5-axis machining is ideal for many applications across a variety of industries, including:
1. Aerospace: The aerospace industry uses 5-axis CNC machines to create geometrically challenging and intricate components that often require smooth edges, contours, interior cuts, or other finishes. 5-axis machining eliminates the need for repositioning, ensuring higher accuracy.
2.
